Month-by-Month Breakdown of Crowd Levels in 2024

Now that we understand the key factors that can influence crowd levels at Walt Disney World, let’s take a closer look at the month-by-month breakdown of crowd levels in 2024. This breakdown will help you determine the best time to visit Disney World and plan your trip accordingly.

  1. JanuaryBest Time to Go This Month: 16th – 31st
The year starts off with heavy crowds, which is the overflow from the holidays. But as the month progresses, the crowd levels tend to decrease. Mid-to-late January can be a great time to visit if you want to avoid heavy crowds and experience shorter wait times.
  2. FebruaryBest Time to Go This Month: 1st – 9th
February also has moderate crowds, especially in the first half of the month. However, as we approach the Presidents’ Day (February 19th) holiday weekend, the crowd levels become heavy.
  3. MarchBest Time to Go This Month: 4th – 8th
As we enter spring break season, crowd levels in March start to rise. This month can be busy, especially during the week of St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) and the weeks before and after Easter (March 31st).
  4. AprilBest Time to Go this Month: 8th – 30th
April sees a mix of moderate and high crowds, with the Easter holiday contributing to increased crowd levels. If you can visit later in the month, you may be able to enjoy the lower wait times.
  5. MayBest Time to Go This Month: 6th – 23rd
May typically offers light crowds, except for the Memorial Day (May 27th) holiday weekend when crowd levels can be higher. Visiting earlier in the month might give you a chance to enjoy lower wait times, though May is generally known as one of the best times to visit Disney World.
  6. June – Best Time to Go This Month: 10th – 21st
The summer season kicks off in June, which means higher crowds at Disney World. This month can be quite busy, especially with families taking vacations. However, early mornings and utilizing Genie+ can help you navigate the park more efficiently. The Florida heat is in full swing, so we think this is one of the worst months to go to Disney World.
  7. JulyBest Time to Go This Month: 8th – 31st
If the crowds don’t get you in July, then the heat definitely will. July is one of the busiest months at Disney World, with high crowds throughout the month. Independence Day (July 4th) brings even larger crowds. To avoid long wait times, it’s recommended to visit during weekdays and arrive at the park early.
  8. August – Best Time to Go This Month: 12th – 28th
August is known for being another great time to travel in terms of crowd levels. Kids are getting ready for school, and most schools in the US actually start near the end of August. However, we recommend not giving in to these light crowds because August is another extremely hot month in Florida. With temperatures reaching up to 94 °F, we recommend waiting one more month if you can.
  9. September – Best Time to Go This Month: 3rd – 26th
Welcome to our favorite month to go to Disney World! Not only are the crowds some of the lightest throughout the year, but Disney also holds special discounts to entice travelers. The kids are getting used to the new school year while you ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance twice in one day. Our previous two trips to Disney World were in Septemeber and the resort and parks were very quiet.
  10. October – Best Time to Go This Month: 1st – 9th*
October is a tricky month to plan around because while it’s definitely one of the busiest months, it also has an exclusive event Mickey’s-Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. If this is something you and your travel partners want to experience, then go near the end of October to fully immersive yourself in the Halloween spirit. However, if you aren’t interested in the event and just want to see what Main Street, USA looks like lit up with pumpkins and fall festivities, then aim for the end of September as that’s when Disney decorates for spooky season. The lowest crowd levels in October happen in the first week.
  11. November – Best Time to Go This Month: 4th – 22nd
This can also be a really busy month and Disney World starts decorating for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in early November. The holiday party is absolutely the busiest event of the year and it attracts TONS of crowds. While not quite December-level crowds yet, November attracts the early planners who want to get in before the holiday rush. If you want to see Disney World during the holidays, you’re best to go in November.
  12. December – Best Time to Go This Month: ???
Welcome to the busiest month of the year at Disney World. With festive lights surrounding Main Street, USA, gingerbread goodies filled in bakeries, and all the characters decked in the holiday spirit, this is definitely the most wonderful time of year – but not for the crowd levels. Expect to ride extremely few rides during this month. You won’t be attending for the rides or attractions but for the holiday atmosphere. For some, a trip to Disney during the holidays is a dream come true. But if you want to cross attractions off your checklist, avoid this month at all costs.
